Remove a black background online free
Black pixels turn transparent instantly — for white logos, neon signs and effects from dark layouts.

White logos and neon effects ship on black backings — useless on light layouts as-is. Threshold-based black removal returns a clean PNG: the glow survives as partial transparency, edges come out halo-free. For photos use neural removal; for white backings — white removal. Upscale the result for print. The rest of the free tools live here.
A white logo variant without redrawing
Brand guidelines usually include a white logo on black. To use it over photos or colored backdrops, the black must go. Thresholding keeps the white linework intact and removes the backing entirely — faster than asking a designer to re-export the source.
Neon, flares and particles for overlays
Video and design effects — neon signs, sparks, lens flares — are distributed on black. After black removal they drop onto any frame in normal blend mode, no screen-blending tricks. The glow gradient becomes smooth partial transparency and looks natural on any background.
When thresholding is the wrong tool
If the subject itself contains deep black — dark hair, black clothing — the threshold will erase it too. For those, use neural background removal: the model cuts by shape, not by pixel color.

What is this for?
White logos, neon and effects arrive on black. Removing the backing gives you an element for any background.
Will dark subject details survive?
Fully black ones turn transparent — it's thresholding. For photos with dark subjects use the neural “Remove background”.
Does the neon glow survive?
Yes: semi-tones between black and color become smooth partial transparency — the glow looks natural.
Do I need an account?
Your first result needs no account. After that we ask for a free sign-up: signed-in users get 5 runs per day, and the Zerocoder Studio has no limits.
What about my files?
Never stored — in-memory processing.
Will dark grey go too?
Near-black — yes, smoothly. Mid-grey stays: the threshold targets black.
Output format?
An alpha-channel PNG up to 3000 px per side.
Can I use it for video overlays?
Yes — process frames as PNGs or use the result as a static overlay.
What else can Zerocoder do?
Website, image, video and text generation under one subscription. This tool is the free part.
