How to make an AI pet portrait in 4 steps
Whole face, eyes in focus, daylight. Only your pet in the frame — no people, and never upload photos of children.
Royal portrait, watercolor, 3D cartoon or Christmas — the prompt fills in. Add markings: a white chest patch, odd-colored eyes.
Nano Banana is preselected; for a closer likeness and print, switch to Nano Banana Pro. Choose 3:4 for a frame or 1:1 for an avatar.
Save the portrait for print, or click Animate — it opens in the Video section: describe the motion (blinks, turns its head) and press Send. Video uses more credits than an image; the Studio shows the exact cost before you send.
Part of the Zerocoder platform
One tool of a platform where AI generates websites, images, video, text and documents — under one subscription.
An AI pet portrait turns an ordinary photo of your cat, dog or rabbit into art: a royal oil painting, a soft watercolor, a 3D cartoon hero, a pet in costume or a Christmas portrait by the tree. Nano Banana in the Zerocoder Studio takes the coat, breed and expression from your photo, Nano Banana Pro is there for print, and new users get free starter credits. Before printing, enlarge the portrait with the image upscaler, turn it into a short clip with Animate Photo, or find more ideas in the AI image generator.
Which photo works best for a dog or cat portrait
The best source is a shot taken at your pet's eye level in daylight: the whole face visible, eyes sharp, fur not blown out. In the Studio you can attach up to four photos from different angles, which helps the model get the coat pattern and ear shape right. Keep people out of the frame and never upload photos of children. If your photo is dull or dark, fix it first with photo enhancement; a blurry shot is better replaced with a sharper one.
Styles: royal, watercolor, cartoon, costume
A royal Renaissance-style portrait means a velvet robe, a lace collar and the dark background of an old master painting. Watercolor and pencil suit a gentle gift, a 3D cartoon makes a fun avatar, and a costume portrait turns your cat into an astronaut, a knight or a chef. To keep the likeness, list the markings in the prompt: “white socks, a ginger patch over one eye, odd-colored eyes”. Make 3–4 variants and keep the closest.
Christmas pet portraits
For December, put your pet by the tree: a cat in a Santa hat, a dog in a knitted scarf among presents, snow outside the window and warm fairy-light glow. Such a portrait works for a holiday card, a seasonal avatar or next year's calendar. Add the greeting text later in any editor: the model handles short words, but check every letter. Matching sweaters and reindeer antlers are easy to add in the prompt.

How do I make a pet portrait from a photo?
Attach a photo of your cat or dog, pick a style or describe one in your own words, and press the button. The Studio opens with the prompt and Nano Banana ready — press Send and choose the best variant.
Will the portrait look like my pet?
The model takes the coat, breed and expression from your photo but redraws the animal, so small markings may shift. List the markings in the prompt, make several variants, and switch to Nano Banana Pro for a closer likeness.
Which pets work besides dogs and cats?
Rabbits, ferrets, parrots, horses — any pet with a clear photo of its face. Two pets can share one portrait: attach a photo of each in the Studio and check that both still look like themselves.
Can I make a Christmas pet portrait?
Yes, pick the “Christmas portrait” direction: a tree with lights, a Santa hat or scarf, snow outside. Add the greeting in an editor — the model draws short words, but check the letters.
Can my pet be shown as a person?
You can ask for a stylized look, e.g. “my cat as a person — ginger hair, green eyes, a business suit”. The result is a fictional character inspired by your pet. If you plan to animate it, pick a cartoon style: the video model may reject a realistic person.
Can I print it on canvas?
Choose 3:4 or 2:3 — those proportions fit standard frames. For larger prints pick Nano Banana Pro in the Studio, then enlarge with the free image upscaler; fine detail stays soft on a big canvas.
Can I make a memorial portrait of a pet that has passed?
Yes, you can make one as a keepsake. Use the clearest photo you have and describe a favorite pose or place — the model builds the portrait from your photo. A dull shot can be brightened with photo enhancement first.
How much does an AI pet portrait cost?
New users get free starter credits to begin with. After that a trial day and Studio plans apply. Credits for a generation that fails are refunded automatically.
Can I animate the portrait?
Yes: click Animate under the image and it opens in the Video section with Seedance. Describe the motion and press Send. Video uses far more credits than an image: starter credits cover at most a short draft, and a full clip needs a trial day or a plan. If a person appears in the picture, the video model may reject it, and the credits are refunded.
