Part of the Zerocoder platform
One tool of a platform where AI generates websites, images, video, text and documents — under one subscription.
PNG is lossless: every subsequent save keeps the image intact, unlike JPG which re-compresses on every edit. That's why editors work in PNG, print shops prefer it and some upload forms require it. Conversion on Zerocoder's servers is free and instant. Note: the background won't become transparent from a format change — transparency is created by neural background removal. The reverse is PNG to JPG; all free tools — in one section.
Why convert JPG to PNG if the file gets heavier
For quality stability. JPG re-compresses on every save: after a few edits you get blocks and dirt along contours. Convert to PNG before editing and the file lives losslessly — ten rounds of edits later, quality matches the source. Standard practice before serious retouching.
PNG for print and strict upload forms
Print shops prefer lossless formats: JPG artifacts show more on paper than on screen. Some portals and document systems accept only PNG. Conversion settles it in a second — no editors to install, no export settings to fight.
Transparency: what conversion does not do
Changing the format doesn't remove the background: JPG's white stays white in PNG — the format merely becomes able to store transparency. To make the background disappear it must be cut out — that's background removal: the neural net separates the subject and returns a genuinely transparent PNG.

Will the background become transparent?
No, conversion only changes the format. Transparency is made by “Remove background” — the neural net cuts the subject out.
Will quality improve?
It won't improve, but it will stop degrading: PNG doesn't re-compress on saves.
Why did the file get heavier?
PNG stores every pixel losslessly — the price of the format. Need it light — go back to JPG or use “Compress image”.
When is PNG mandatory?
Editing without artifact build-up, print, strict upload forms, sharp-edged graphics.
What's the size limit?
Up to 12 MB per file.
Do I need an account?
Your first result needs no account. After that we ask for a free sign-up: signed-in users get 5 runs per day, and the Zerocoder Studio has no limits.
What happens to my files?
Nothing is stored: in-memory processing.
Is EXIF preserved?
Orientation is applied; other metadata is stripped — a privacy plus for publishing.
What else does Zerocoder do?
AI image, text and video generation, courses, jobs — the converter is one free utility of the Studio.
